Unique Couple Retreats ~ Part II

Monday, we took a peak at yurts and hang gliding adventures. Today we are continuing our look at UNIQUE - ADVENTUROUS - FUN - DIFFERENT romantic couples getaways.
Zipping through the treetops no better way to profess your love for your love.

HISTORIC BANNING MILLS, Whitesburg, GA - an amazing adventure center with a bed & breakfast, country inn atmosphere.

As I stated in Monday's post many of these unique getaway I have not stayed overnight but I have been to Banning Mills on a few occasions for the day (twice to zip on various GWs and once with the kids to watch the zippers). I want to begin by saying this is a fabulous, safe place to ZIPLINE. I have done this adventure even in Jamaica and I loved Banning Mills experience far more. It is a great feeling of accomplishment when you are done. It is hard to remove the smile from your face for hours after. What a great way to bond with your loved one sharing an experience that calls for your bravery and support of each other. Banning Mills was one of the first ziplines in Georgia - it is the largest eco-canopy tour in the WORLD! The guides take such good care of you. They lead and reassure you every step of the way. I have not zipped here yet with my husband Chris. I have been saving the Full Extreme Tour to do with him. So, we can scream our way through the Screaming Eagle Half Mile Long Ziplines together! On the property of Banning Mills there are several lodging options. From cabins to lodge rooms included in your stay is a FULL breakfast for each morning of your stay. In addition ziplining there are many other activities to choose from at Banning Mills ~ horseback riding, onsite spa, hiking, kayaking, skeet shooting and more!

Just me & a few of the girls hangin' up in the trees in our helmets!

Another super romantic option for a stay if you are planning to ZIP is The Inn at Serenbe. Only about 20 minutes from Historic Banning Mills. Serenbe is a special, Serenbe is simple, Serenbe is something else. Your stay at Serenbe is just what the love doctor ordered to get away from "it" all. Accommodations vary from intimate rooms in the restored 1905 main farmhouse to private cottages throughout the property, you can even get a place in "town". Not only is Serenbe a fabulous Inn that reminds us of when your eggs actually came from chickens (THAT morning) it is a quaint, idyllic little eco-friendly town. Your stay includes southern afternoon tea, sweets at bedtime and a incredible country breakfast. There is a pool, hot tub, farm animal village and tons of acres to explore (you may even stumble upon one of the two waterfalls on the property). For your eating pleasure there is the highly acclaimed Farmhouse Restaurant and The Hil in town also written up constantly in various gourmet magazines. There is also a casual option in town, The Blue Eyed Daisy Bakeshop. Many of the ingredients used in all three restaurants comes from right there in Serenbe from their Organic Farm. Town consists of little boutiques and galleries. http://www.serenbe.com/ http://www.serenbefarmhouse.com/ http://www.the-hil.com/ http://www.blueeyeddaisy.com/

SEVENTY-FOUR RANCH, Jasper, GA - Cozy-ing up Cowboy Style

If you really want something different and your loved one has always dreamed of being John Wayne or you, Calamity Jane. This is a great getaway - roughin' it and rough riding! There are several accommodations worth checking out at the Seventy-Four Ranch. The overlook room with it's 1824 claw-footed tub is enchanting. But the room we are going to spend some time talking about because it certainly fits the bill for unique is the Cowboy Cabin. The weekend I was at the 74 Ranch with my kids the Cowboy Cabin had just been completed. The owners themselves were sleeping in it for the first time. The cabin is a replica of a "line shack" where the cowboys would stay in the winters to protect themselves from the elements while moving the herds. You will be more than protected from the elements but you will be part of the elements in this cabin built from cedar timbers dating as far back as 1832. There are simple luxuries added to make this cabin a memorable romantic stay ~ down pillows, sheepskin rugs, cedar covered cooler and the cabin comes complete with a big stack of wood to keep your home fires burning all night in the wood stove. There is no electricity in the cabin to add to the ambiance but plenty of candle are available plus a Coleman lantern acts as your chandelier. The Cowboy Cabin is situated right on the pasture line so just swing your windows open catch the cool mountain breezes and say good morning to the horse and cattle that come by to visit. Your stay includes a delicious gourmet organic breakfast. LOVE HORSES? You can book a trail ride, a lesson or try your hand at roping or even cattle driving. There is a new restaurant 61 Main located you guessed it right on Main Street in Jasper that even carries 74 Ranch's beef it doesn't get more local than that.
