Unique Retreats for Couples ~ Part I

I thought it would be fun to post several FUN - DIFFERENT - ADVENTUROUS - UNIQUE Getaways for a different kind of romance. Many of these I have not been to but have a peaked interest in visiting one day. This list is pretty extensive so I will be breaking it into a few days. Keep coming back for more very different ideas for you and your loved one to find each other again.

A Yurt of Your Own - Blanche Manor, Copperhill, Tennesee (15min north of Blue Ridge, GA)

After horseback riding with this fabulous family (the Blanche's) with my brownie troop several yrs ago, I routinely check out their website to see any changes or growth in their company. Lo and behold, they have added lodging to their 350 acres! I think it is YURTASTIC that they now offer the opportunity to stay at the ranch! These Yurts are not too rustic being that in the warm months they are equipped with A/C and in the cold months they are well insulated that with the help of a small eco-friendly heater you will be cozy and warm! Each Yurt has a mini-fridge, micro-wave, coffee maker, ceiling fans, skylight, queen sized log four poster beds (with high thread count sheets), little living area with couch and kitchen table. They have great decks out front complete with hammock, patio set w/umbrella and grill for you mountain meals. You may be asking where do we go to the you know where?? There is a bathhouse conveniently located to the yurts and each yurt has it's OWN bathroom in this building. The bathhouse is well equipped to meet our city restroom needs with fluffy towels, shower with a deluxe shower head and a HOT TUB just beyond the bathhouse. They even have a fire pit! Not much was left out in the construction of this little mountain getaway. Enjoy sunrises from your deck, read in your hammock, grill your steaks and enjoy some wine from a local winery. Go for a horseback trail ride or a horse drawn hayride complete with a roaring campfire to eat a home cooked country dinner while you are serenaded with LIVE mountain music.

More Options if Yurting is Your Thing -

UP, UP AND AWAY - Live the Dream, Learn How to Fly
You can Lookout from above at Lookout Mountain!
Maybe you have always wanted to try a hand at hang gliding well not too far from Atlanta is Lookout Mountain. This getaway is a must for the adventure seeking couple! You can book your stay at the charming Blue Cottage which sleeps three (not that you would want a third wheel on your romantic getaway ~ or maybe you do?). Blue Cottage is something special in the woods. It is equipped with everything to make you comfortable, even spoiled a bit. The cottage has it's own very private hot tub and a beautiful fire pit on the patio. What makes this place perfect for you to rest up before or after your BIG ADVENTURE is that Lookout Mountain Flight Park is right at the end of the driveway. Blue Cottage's motto is getting back to nature doesn't mean you have to rough it!

Okay, on my own list of things to do is HANG GLIDE so one day I will book the little Blue Cottage and head to Lookout Mountain Flight Park (LFMP) to catch some air! But for now I will just have to blog about my dream. Check out their website for all the information you will need to get yourselves up there. They specialize in first-timers offering tandem flights. So, if soaring 2,000 feet above Lookout Valley is your thing then let this place be the wind beneath your wings. Lookout Mountain Flight Park has various accommodations of their own if you are interested (lofts, cabins and bunkhouses available as well as campsites & RV hookups). LMFP is the LARGEST hang gliding training facility in the whole country. They were featured yesterday on CNN. You can also find there to be quite a party on most Saturday nights if you want to partake. Lookout Mountain flight Park - http://www.hanglide.com/

STAY TUNED TOMORROW for Glamping, a Cowboy Cabin and Ziplining Adventure Stays!
