Girls Getaway Weekends - What?

How long do we go for?
How far will they go?
How much will they be willing to spend?
What special needs will the group have - will they need their own rooms, will they need their own beds?

A lot of these ?'s will narrow down your decision on where to hold your weekend. A B&B might be perfect to house your group. A house rental might be a better fit for you. Or maybe your group is used to being waited on and a resort Is the way to go. Maybe finances are tight and you have the option of sending your family (husband included) to stay at a friends house for a night? So, you can have a sleepover (mini girls weekend).

What do you want to do on your weekend?
For me I like to plan activities for the ladies that they normally wouldn't have the chance to do. I think giving them a safe yet fun environment to give something they normally wouldn't do by themselves is important. Remember we are there for each other just by being there! Some of the group activities that my "girls" have done over the years include:
  • Kayaking
  • Painting
  • Zip-lining
  • Milking cows and collecting fresh eggs right from the hen house
  • Skeet shooting
  • Horseback Riding
  • Shrimping on a real shrimp boat
  • Yoga on the beach at sunrise
  • Bike riding
  • Wine Tasting
  • Beer & Cheese Tasting
  • Casino Cruise
  • Historical Tours
  • Lingerie Parties
  • Tarot Card readings
  • Ride on the Largest Fastest Speed Boat in the Gulf
  • Hot Air Ballooning
  • Fishing
  • Canoeing
  • Bling Bingo Nights
  • Movie Nights
  • Bonfires
  • Dog Sledding (next winter's family girls weekend CAN'T WAIT!)

Many times after a group activity someone will tell me they have always wanted to try that but never had the opportunity. It is all about providing the opportunities.

My "model" for the Girls Weekends I run is filled with many chances for women to fill themselves up! I try to put little inspirational messages out there (literally ~ I do table tents for the rooms with sayings, poems, prayers, jokes, etc) in hopes that they will touch someone in a way that my words or actions can't. I place Welcome Bags on their beds to make them feel just that ~ Welcome! Sometimes women tell me they feel like it's their birthday because they never receive presents. I try to do a CD for the weekend. Raffle prizes always make everything exciting! During the weekend I try to incorporate a game of getting to know each other better. The schedules usually consist of a good mix of group activities and free time to do whatever they wish (something that is hard to come by in our everyday lives). I will get into specifics topic by topic over the next few blogs.
