Lay Your Head Down in a Lighthouse?

Lighthouses have always intrigued me.  Something about the keeper of the light, always being "on" duty and the importance of their job to bring the sailors safely home.  When I stumbled across this first lighthouse RIGHT on the beach that you could stay in, I was WOWED!  I have yet to stay in one of these beacon's of light but it is on "my very long list of places to stay".

Katie's Light on Amelia Island, FL
Treat yourself to a unique island vacation experience in relaxing lighthouse living. Built as a replica of the famous Thomas Point Lighthouse on the Chesapeake Bay, Katie's Light is a unique beachfront vacation rental. The deck of this oceanfront home extends over the beach and wraps 360-degrees around the house. It features a large, combined kitchen, dining room and entertainment area on the first level. Take the spiral staircase up to the bedrooms on the second level. Wood floors and ceilings throughout. Perfect for a family getaway or a romantic weekend, you won't want to miss the accommodations of Katie's Light.

Lake County Historical Society's Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast, Two Harbors, MN
We have four rooms available, each with a view of Lake Superior that changes continuously. Our accommodations offer the
lakeshore grandeur and immediate access to the North Shore scenery from the comfort of a B&B that is “home” during your stay. Even our clean and simple common bathroom offers a wonderful lake view. A more rustic room, known as the Skiff House, is located a few steps from the Keeper’s Quarters. Away from the main house it offers a unique sense of privacy.

Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn, Ahmeek, MI
Coastal Elegance ~ Each of the eight lovely rooms features a king- or queen-sized bed and private bathroom. Two rooms have whirlpool bathtubs and a balcony overlooking Lake Superior. The romantic King Room features a canopied king-sized bed, a fireplace, and a fabulous view of Lake Superior.  Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn is open year-round.

Smithfield Station Lighthouse, Smithfield, VA
Virginia's ONLY lighthouse accommodations. Modeled after the Hooper Strait Light in Maryland, now located at the Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland, the Light at Smithfield is an exact replica of a working Chesapeake Bay Style Lighthouse and boasts two spacious suites complete with fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs. Enjoy panoramic views of the river, room to entertain and access to the scenic overlook.

Anchorlight Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast, Crane Hill, AL
The lighthouse is an exciting place to stay for kids of all ages, or a romantic interlude for just the two of you! Kid friendly and can handle families with 2 children as long as the children are either small enough to stay in the room with the parents or older children may like the adventure of actually spending the night in the lamproom.  Included in your stay will be a ride on the tugboat "Maggie". Weather (with the exception of severe storms and wind) is not an issue with your tour of the lake. Maggie runs year round and is comfortable in all weather.
The bathroom is a tugboat cabin coming out of the wall.
While taking a wonderful rain shower you are actually standing in the wheelhouse!
