Fabulous Forty For Us - Villa de Suenos, Saint Simons Island, GA

Some time ago we were getting ready to plan our fortieth birthday getaway. We knew we wanted to celebrate with others and we knew we wanted to feel like we were far away BUT not travel too far since it was just going to be a long weekend. I went back through a few rental companies I have used in the past because the pool of homes companies have to offer are forever changing. I found a gem (I mean I found the whole damn treasure chest)!

Villa de Suenos means house of dreams and I am telling you on our ride home I actually dreamt about the villa while I was napping.  Villa de Suenos looks like a 5star resort but it is your own PRIVATE mini-mansion situated on Saint Simon's Island, Georgia! With 6 bedrooms each with their own bath and views that are endless you can't go wrong with this home. You know it is special from the moment you pull up and you aren't sure which street to enter from (that's how big the property is - it goes from one block clear over to the next). The villa is made up of two buildings connected by a breezeway with a HUGE LUXURIOUS pool and pavilion situated in the middle.
The main building has a humongous kitchen with multiple everything. Hidden wine coolers, dishwashers and microwave all blend with the gorgeous blue cabinetry. All top of the line appliances Sub Zero and Viking etc.  A long rich dining table looks out over the ocean. Breakfast had never tasted better than at that table!
The kitchen opens up to a well appointed living area. The carousel coffee table caught my eye. On the main level there is also a guest bedroom.

Level two boasts a magnificent master with the most comfortable king bed I have ever slept in. The bedroom has windows everywhere that can be opened to bring the outside in. The breezes that blow threw this room are so very refreshing. They make you want to take deeper fuller breaths of air when you breathe.

I have never stayed in a room where I swear in the morning I could get a tan right from in our bed. It was like the beach was right in our room. A large private covered deck with inviting outdoor furniture and ceiling fan is right off the master.
Sunrise from the master
The HUGE flat screen TV (sorry no photo boys) would make any man happy. Fireplace and saddle - what? The owner of the villa is a true equestrian and horse lover. So, in the master there is a saddle and riding boots, not sure if is just part of the decor or what?

There is even a full stable in the basement of the villa (I am getting ahead of myself).

The master bath was just as breathtaking as the rest if the house. It actually might have been my favorite room. The large copper tub lit by the overhead chandelier would make any woman feel like a princess.
Seriously LOOK at that tub!
My ONLY regret from the whole trip was that it wasn't one night longer and that I didn't take advantage of that gorgeous tub. The shower was one of those that had water hitting you from every angle including the overhead rain shower. The closet for the master was a room in itself, it connected to the closet of the bedroom next door.  In that closet/room there was a washer and dryer.  Oh, and somewhere in this closet maze the elevator entrance for the second floor is hidden.  The other bedroom on the second floor went unused in our case because it consists of two twin beds (one of which is a trundle) ~ CUTE room just not super romantic for a couples weekend.  The third floor is entirely made up of a real fun bedroom housing TWO queen beds and a mini kitchenette!  It even has it's own sundeck ~ perfect for evening cocktail before heading down for dinner.

The two halves of the house are connected from underneath the villa by an underground grotto.  A maze of hallways, multiple garages (one with a FIREPLACE!), wine cellar and of course the STABLE!

The other two bedrooms are attached to the pavilion next to the pool along with the SECOND kitchen (YUP, two kitchens)!  It is more of a service kitchen but sure came in handy for serving lunch and extra fridge storage etc.  Also, for those couples staying in those two bedrooms they had their own coffee readily at hand every morning.  There are several ways to prepare your meals outdoors including a large gas grill and a hibachi style grill. The pavilion and pool area is where we spent the majority of our time.  There is no reason to be anywhere else!  With beautiful outdoor seating there is ample places to rest your tanned feet.  The pavilion had several seating areas, a huge concrete slab dining table that could sit MANY and a grand built in fireplace which took the chill of on those cool October nights. Using the IPOD hookups to the speakers throughout the pavilion you could throw your very own dance party.  (I'll tell you several spontaneous ones occurred while we were there)

The pool and hot tub are just perfectly placed on the ocean's edge ~ it felt like.  I could have sat there for hours watching the sun rise & set, the tides change, the wildlife live and the kayakers/paddle boarders come and go.  WAIT - I did sit there for hours and watch all those things and more!  Forgot about the harvest moon rise and the dolphins playing in the channel.  I am not making this stuff up!

The villa sleeps a maximum of 15 people and can be rented for weddings and other special events.  I am going to try to think of another reason to get back there because I really miss it!  I MEAN REALLY MISS IT!

Watch this video tour of Villa De Suenos and you will LONG to go sit by the ocean in a comfy lounge chair with a built in table to rest your cool beverage on, too!

Here are a few other beautiful photos from our stay at the BREATHTAKING Villa De Suenos ~ House of Dreams.
My lounge chair is waiting for me!

I will blog in a separate post about the trip itself - the villa was just TOO FABULOUS not to write about!
