Girls Weekends - WHERE? with Family Girls Weekends

Yesterday, we went on a journey through where my girlfriends and I have been. Today, we are going to travel with my Family Girls Getaway Weekends. First, you should know that we do these trips every other year between all the family celebrations ~ weddings, christenings, communions, etc. every other year works out best for us. Since, the girls are spread all over the East Coast we alternate the North and South as our location for each trip. So, only half the group is buying plane tickets at one time. You should also know that I come from a LARGE family and there are a lot of FUN & AMAZING women in this bunch. We usually end up with a group around 35 women for this trip. One of the great things about it is not only do I get to spend time with my sisters, mother, cousins and grandmothers but I get to see old family friends that I don't know if otherwise I would see, let alone spend AMAZING QUALITY time with. As far as location for your event, sometimes a large house rental will work (with so many women in an off season you can pay pennies on mansions!), but that can be a lot of work on the weekend itself. Garbage duties/dishes/general straightening up - so a B&B or resort might be a better fit for your group. We try to alternate so it never really feels like "work" when you are away.

Our first year we rented an amazing home in Bridgehampton - it had swimming pool, hot tub, tennis, basketball court and even it's own gym! With NINE bedrooms there was plenty of room for all of us! we hired a chef one night to cook us dinner, had a massage therapist (husband of said chef) come to rub us, took chauffeured vans to a local winery for lunch and wine tasting, held a The Body Shop in house party complete with pedicures! It was a BLAST!

Our second year we headed south to Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida - LOVE LOVE LOVE it there! We got to have a private yoga class, Sunday Brunch aboard an incredible yacht, lots of POOL time, spa services and so much more!

see my previous post about Hammock Beach for great details http://karasgreatgetaways.blogspot.com/2011/02/hammock-beach-heaven-great-family.html

Back up north our third year to Westport, Connecticut! We had chair massages during our appetizer welcome party, went to the movies in an old restored theatre, had our own private tour of Westport from the Historical Society (complete with art show and museum tour), private gourmet dinner in a local art gallery one night and SHOPPING SHOPPING SHOPPING! I won't go into great detail about this FABULOUS Inn because it unfortunately closed down last year. An incredible shame because it held such beauty and history. The Inn at National Hall will be GREATLY MISSED!

Year four held many southern treasures for us. Saint Simon's Island has a quaint and quiet street that we filled with laughter and frivolity. We filled four rental houses of this pastel colored cobblestone street. Went to the beach, had a low country boil, went on a casino cruise (got there in style by trolley), yoga on the beach at sunrise, game night, kayaking through the marshes, shrimp cruise and so much more. http://www.realescapesproperties.com/ and www.vrbo.com/302554 were the companies I rented from this year for the family girl trip. Another company I have rented from in the past on SSI is http://www.stsimonsbeachrentals.com/

Next year's weekend is already on the books and we can't wait! We are headed to Hotel Fauchere in Milford, PA. I chose this property because it is a Relais and Chateaux property so it has high standards. I love for my girls to feel pampered and special on our weekends because that is what they are ~ SPECIAL! We will be having a smore's night by the fire pit, gourmet dinners and we are going DOG SLEDDING ~ SERIOUSLY CAN NOT WAIT TO MUSH!!!http://www.hotelfauchere.com/
